Good news for youth preparing for government jobs in the Railways. The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have released the notification for recruitment to the posts of Junior Engineer (JE) and Depot Material Superintendent (DMS). Under this recruitment, a total of 3,993 eligible candidates will be selected. The online application process started on August 14, 2026, and interested candidates can apply until September 13, 2026, up to 11:59 PM.

This recruitment includes various Junior Engineer posts in different departments of Railways and Depot Material Superintendent posts. There are a total of 3,993 vacancies. Category-wise total posts are as follows:

RRB JE Recruitment 2026 Educational Qualification

In this recruitment, qualifications vary according to the post. For most JE posts, a 3-year Diploma in the concerned Engineering discipline is required, while for many posts, a degree in the concerned Engineering is also accepted. For the DMS post, a 3-year Diploma in any Engineering discipline is required.

Candidates must possess the prescribed qualification by September 13, 2026. Candidates whose final results have not been declared yet are not eligible to apply.

RRB JE Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

The candidate’s age should be between 18 to 33 years as of January 1, 2027.

RRB JE Recruitment 2026 Salary

All notified posts in this recruitment carry Level-6 and ₹35,400 Initial Pay.

RRB JE Recruitment 2026 Application Fee

Refund of fee will be given only to those candidates who appear in the 1st Stage CBT.

RRB JE Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

In this recruitment, candidates will be selected on the basis of Computer Based Test (CBT), Document Verification, and Medical Examination.

The 1st Stage CBT is only a Screening Test. Based on its Normalized Marks, candidates will be shortlisted for the 2nd Stage CBT. Generally, candidates up to 15 times the community-wise vacancy of the RRB will be shortlisted for the 2nd Stage.

CBT-1 Exam Pattern

The first stage examination will be common for all notified posts.

• Exam duration: 90 minutes

• Candidates eligible for a scribe will get 120 minutes

• Negative Marking: 1/3 mark for each wrong answer

• General Science will include questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Life Sciences up to 10th standard level

CBT-2 Exam Pattern

The 2nd Stage CBT will have a total of 150 questions and 150 marks. The exam duration will be 120 minutes.

• Negative marking of 1/3 mark for each wrong answer will also apply in CBT-2

• Technical Abilities questions will be according to the candidate’s chosen Exam Group

Exam Group

The Technical Exam Group will be determined according to the candidate’s Engineering qualification.

If a candidate has multiple qualifications belonging to different Exam Groups, they may choose any one Exam Group according to the eligible posts.

• Ex-Serviceman Certificate (if applicable)

• Other necessary documents

OBC-NCL candidates’ certificate must be issued after April 1, 2026 and up to the last date of application.

2. Open the recruitment for CEN No. 04/2026.

3. If you already have an RRB Account, apply using the same login.

4. New candidates must first create an Account.

5. Verify using OTP sent to mobile number and Email ID.

6. It will be better to do Identity Authentication through Aadhaar/DigiLocker.

7. Fill in your preference for RRB, Post, and Railway Zone according to your qualification.

8. Fill in all the information requested in the application form.

9. Upload Live Photo and Signature.

10. Upload required documents.

11. Pay the Application Fee.

12. Submit the form and keep a copy of it safe with you.

Note: In this recruitment, candidates have to choose only one RRB. Applying to more than one RRB or submitting multiple applications for the same RRB may result in cancellation of all applications.
